Xi Phi’s Emerging Leaders program helped to facilitate $2.1 million in merit scholarship funding or students in 2020-2021. During the period the program worked with 24 seniors and five juniors who received a total of 193 college acceptance letters from various institutions including 12 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
Emerging Leaders identifies and recruits black and brown juniors and seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA to participate in a multi-faceted college readiness program. The program has a specific focus on matching students with a particular institution to enhance the possibility of being awarded a financial aid package that results in acceptance and retention. Students also receive college scholarships. In addition, Xi Phi members lead mentoring, leadership and community engagement sessions with the goal of building a pipeline of future leaders.
